Service Learning gives people the opportunity to go out into the world and have a “hands on” experience. I look at Service Learning as a different form of academics or learning style that portrays real life learning experiences and community responsibility. My experience with service learning opened my eyes about how lucky I am. Working with “real life” scenarios such as raising money for kids in need made me want to have a major impact to better someone else’s life. At the same time, it helped me with critical thinking, group consensus, and networking resources. Service Learning made me feel included in the learning process and let me give back to the community.

Kitties Need Help Too
Our group made a difference at the local animal shelter today. We loved feeding and cleaning the cats and dogs, walking the dogs, and playing with the cats. We learned that animal shelters everywhere are in need of volunteers and donations. Our goal is to collect donations for the animal shelter throughout the term and spread the word about opportunities to volunteer.
